Hi, my name is Olena, just in case you didn't know that. Welcome to Just Olena, the brand that makes you feel like you belong. Most of you know me as IamJustOlena or by my former YouTube name IamJustaMakeupLover.
I found YouTube at a time in my life where I seemingly lost myself- I was bullied in high school by people I thought were my friends and through that fell into a loneliness I’d never wish on anyone else. Since that moment I locked myself up and had a hard time trusting or letting anyone in. That is when I found YouTube and desperately wanted community. I saw these gals making videos and talking about their makeup, it made me feel like I was part of something. So I decided to make my own channel and that is how IamJustaMakeupLover was born. Through the friends who started following me and encouraging me, I took back my power. Unknowingly, these strangers all over the world encouraged me to find confidence in myself I never knew I had. I found my voice, I found my power, and I learned to live as myself never conforming to anyone else’s opinion of me. That is why IamJustaMakeupLover had to change to IamJustOlena. I was no longer hiding behind who I thought I had to be. I was finally allowed to be me.
When I started my Youtube Channel, I faced a lot of adversity, but looking back at what I faced and everything that happened, I can’t help but feel like it was kind of fate for me to look to Youtube and then flip it around and now create a community for those who feel like I once did.
The girl who started those makeup videos many years ago was and always will be Just Olena, I'm not some fancy person out here, I'm just like you. I struggle day to day and I am not perfect by any means. But through all those years, I learned to love myself and accept myself as I am. This brought a confidence that no one can ever take away. And I have you to thank for that.
It all started with a spark of an idea, when I couldn’t find any cute headbands, I decided to create my own. I’ve suffered with Psoriasis since high school, and it always flares up on my hairline from stress or cold weather. It used to be a huge insecurity of mine, so I wore headbands to bring me confidence when my self esteem was down.
It’s been a dream of mine to create something all my own, but nothing ever felt as intensely right as JUST OLENA. I asked my mom, who has been a professional tailor most her life, if we could create them. The moment she said it can be done, I flew to my computer to do all the research. I found the fabrics, colors, and everything in between. My mom, my sisters, and I sat there making every headband and somehow 5 months later we have our first launch ever!!!
Every headband is made by us with love. I hope when you wear them you remember you are so much more beautiful than you will ever know, feel that confidence and wear it proud.
